Default [Completed] Venus server move to new cabinet

Just a heads up that Venus server will be relocated to another cabinet in the 530W datacenter as part of our colocation consolidation and improvement of services.

This move will take place on the Monday 16th, 10.00am PDT, 2008.

TimeandDate.com countdown

The server will be powered down, removed from the cabinet, added to the new Dotable cabinet and powered back up.

For those clients with custom nameservers, this will mean new IPs for your nameservers. There's no way around this unfortunately, and we will email you with your new nameserver IPs as the server is moved to the new Dotable cabinet. You will then need to change your nameserver IPs at your domain register for your main WHM domain. Shortly after that, your domains will then resolve from the new location. Downtime will be minimal but there will be some downtime. This cannot be avoided.

For those clients that do not use custom nameservers, you don't need to do anything, as we will update the server's default nameserver IPs.

For those of you that use 3rd party DNS services, you will need to update the A records accordingly with your newly assigned IP addresses. If you can, you would be advised to lower your TTL (Time To Live) times on your dns zones, as low as possible, as soon as you are able, in preparation for an IP address change next week.

If you have any questions about the server move, post them below or drop a ticket into the Dotable helpdesk.

ok so once we have updated the ip's there is nothing further we need to do correct? The sites should all propagate to the new ip's etc?

Question Uh, what now?

What is the new IP for Venus?

I guess if the nameservers stay the same (ns5.dotable.com and ns6.dotable.com) there's nothing for me to change. Or am I wrong on that?

If you are using our name servers, there is nothing that you need to do.
You can view your new IP address within whm/cpanel - access your cpanel or whm using your domain name or venus.dotcolo.com rather than using an ip address.
