Waldo
I agree with you wholeheartedly, not necessarily in relation to this thread in particular but the forum and the Dotable atmosphere in general.

Before Dotable was acquired by UK2, Aussie Bob tended these forums like a proud gardener would tend his flower beds. Barely a day would pass without Bob posting a comment, and often it was several! Back then, the forum was buzzing and it became a really valuable resource when used to get quick answers on general topics, or simply as a dynamic knowledge base.

I was originally under the impression that UK2 liked the Dotable 'community model', not least from this and this press release, which contained the following quotes:

Quote:
'Dotable.com has really captured a winning formula in the market and is a demonstration of the power of community in building a high quality company,' explained Mr. Nelson. 'We are going to insure that this situation remains intact and grows under the UK-2 umbrella.' According to the company, Dotable has 'robust and very active forums' which have 'made users feel more like part of a community than customers.'
Quote:
'We are very pleased to invite Dotable and Bob into the UK-2group', added UK-2Group's Ditlev Bredahl. 'I've always respected the setup and the sort of 'family feel' it has to it. Our main priority is not to mess that up in anyway, but to take all the good stuff that being a part of a group like ours can bring and make sure that all the original Dotable values and ideals are kept. We like the way Aussie Bob runs Dotable, and we want it to stay that way.'

Regarding your comment, Waldo:

While I didn't really expect a reply from staff to this thread, as I really just wanted to find out from other users whether I was alone in how I had been feeling about Dotable lately, I was very disappointed when my official 'Complaint' ticket was deleted, and the copy of it, in this thread here, was ignored.

Thus, bearing in mind that the forum seems to have gone to seed, I have a strange feeling that all the forum posts will be removed at some point and replaced with something else. Mind you, this is purely speculation, and I sincerely hope that it is not true.

It's a shame that, from my perspective, it seems that we are sadly no longer part of the Dotable community, but simply part of the UK2 revenue stream.

You're just a few months late in realizing it.
