I’ve reached the one-year mark with Dotable, and it past time for this posting
Executive Summary: Super E-a-s-y cpanel move! No regrets whatsoever. First, one must understand that I am one of those customers whom no one wants. I demand top notch service even though I only spend a pittance of cash with my suppliers. (Dave, you taught me well.) Foremost, I require the straight story after a train wreck has been righted. See this thread for an example. Bob, Steve, and colleagues fulfill that requirement beyond my expectations. Other random thoughts and caveats: If moving from a host running PHP-CGI, rather than running php as an apache module (as Dotable does) you will note some changes to permissions. No biggie – I just wasn’t expecting it. I find it amusing that the most significant forum thread on the date that I prepared this posting concerns the validity of reopening a helpdesk ticket to tell the staff “thanks” for addressing an issue! Some will depend upon the difference in server statistics to be the tie-breaker between potential hosts. I, on the other hand, try to grasp a personal feel for the staff of the host. Check Bob’s postings on any public forum to grasp his demeanor. I think you will find his postings courteous and professional -- sprinkled with humor at the appropriate time. All hosting firms would do well to mimic Dotable’s business model.
