Default Welcome to our first UK server! one.dotcolo.com

Hi All

It's my pleasure to introduce our first UK cPanel hosting server - one.dotcolo.com.

This powerhouse stands at 8 cores, Dual 3.0ghz with 6GB of RAM and RAID5.

It's primary IP is 83.170.94.20. It's located in UK2's London datacenter and will be premiering as Dotable's first UK Hosting Server.

As the first server on our very own IP space, it'll feature free SSL certificates for all sites on the server, a premier ecommerce shopping cart, and our recently upgraded packages.

Accounts on this server will go at the standard US prices, and all packages can be ordered now in the UK or US.

(For those curious about the name, I've decided our new naming scheme will be based on popular one (or two) word song titles. First being One by U2, only appropriate for a server on that side of the pond!)

We are still working on provisioning this server and benchmarking it for production use. As soon as we're ready to accept new orders in the UK, as well as any transfer requests, we will be posting in the General Announcement forums. Thank you!

Just wanted to note that we've completed our first move to the One(UK) server.

Hopefully Adam can report how it went soon..but I think we have our transfer process down pat.

Hi,

Thought I'd better post here to let you know how it went

Overall pretty smooth, Billy was helpful and informative all through the process. I thought Steve would be hard to replace but Billy is certainly up there.

There were a couple of glitches along the way but I think it's rare to get a perfect transfer and these were only minor issues that were quickly resolved.

The UK server seems extremely fast ping times are good and I've had excellent feedback from my UK based clients.

Overall I'm pleased I made the move and would recommend it to any other UK based dotable clients.

Thanks guys

Adam

Sorry if I'm slow on the uptake, but can I request a transfer to the UK server at any time? What's the likely downtime / knock on effects if any?

Most of my clients are UK based, or at least EU based so would probably make sense...

Waldo,

We've already transfered one reseller with minimal to no downtime. As in <5 minutes I believe of downtime. We can do it at your scheduling. Just drop us a ticket.

Hey Waldo, just to confirm what Nick said. I didn't have any downtime that I'm aware of and the monitoring service I use didn't pick any up, this checks at 2 minute intervals

oh and one other thing that caught me out in a couple of places is that the UK server is php5 only. I had a couple of php4 scripts that needed adjustment so I'd suggest you test your scripts before a move.

Adam,
So you know you can pick php4 or php5 in the control panel The newer servers default to php5.

oh right that's a new one then I'll have to have a look into that. Would solve a couple of small issues I have outstanding until I have a chance to fix them properly

Cheers
