[Completed] Relocation to new server - Dotable

Due to unrecoverable file system errors and some data loss, the mercury server services (exim, ftp, mysql, webmail, cpanel) are currently not functioning normally. The /home file system is mounted read only and cannot be written to.

This was a result of a power supply unit failure and moving the hard drives and raid card into a new server today, after both of the psu's failed.

We are currently moving all backups from the server to another server located within Carrier Central LA and accounts will be restored on our servers located within that facility. The process of moving backups to a new server is likely to take around 10 hours to complete. Additionally, there will be the time that it takes to restore your accounts and reconfigure them with new ip addresses. It is of the utmost importance that we safely relocate all data as soon as possible from this machine, in order to maintain your data integrity.

Once all data has been safely transferred to another server, we will be completing the restoration of accounts. You will be advised of your server and new IP addresses upon restoration of your reseller account.

Your original IP addresses will then be nat forwarded from Mercury to your new IP's, until you are able to update any 3rd party dns providers or domain name registrars with your new IP's.

If you have your own backups and would like an account to be created on a new server sooner, please drop a ticket into the helpdesk and we will add the account for you, you can then proceed to upload your own backups.

We apologise for the downtime incurred due to this event and will be working hard to get you all back up and running again as soon as it is humanly possible.

The backups restored will be from the last daily backup (Oct 25)

Hmm.. Just curious, why is there a need to relocate the server? Isn't a new server already in place? So we're now transferring from the new server to the 2nd new server in Carrier Central LA? Wouldn't it delay things ?

Anyways, glad to hear that the backup is very recent.

I dont know why PSU failed , then moving all backups from the server to another server located within another IDC ..

We had to relocate the server as well, as the current data center are no longer comfortable with us hosting there (competition issues), we had to relocate the server within the next 30 days or so anyway ... which compounds the issue a lot as you can imagine.
