Reply to all the messages regarding my previous post:

I think everyone learns from handling a disaster. Be it if making you realize that all the effort you spent backing up is well worth it (and so that you don't slack off next time!) or stuff like could we have had a spare harddisk lying around that would have helped?

I would actually say that after a disaster, a admin who doesn't go look back at the whole thing and think about what he could have done better, what might help the next time round, what of what he planned worked out in the end, what didn't, how is a real disaster compared to the one I have planned out for isn't a good admin.

We learn daily and I am sure Dotable did discover some differences between a real disaster and the one they had planned. And even IF it was exactly what they planned they would do, it is still good practice, so the next time round you'll know what to do.

Peace.

There wasn't really a problem with the procedure or the backups.
We had all backups, the problem in time frame was the time it was taking to transfer the backups to the other noc.

A local restore was the first option, we had the drives put into a new server, which turned out to cause a lot of issues. We then moved all backup files to another server and restored a good number of accounts, before trying again to resolve the mercury issue, once the data was safe and we could afford to do that.

As we had to relocate to another data center as well, that caused the time delay to a large extent, but there was never an issue with backups being available.

I'm still transferring accounts to the new servers.

OK, Mercury almost done.

By the way, I'm on Venus with 2 WHM accounts. When my accounts will be moved to a new server at CCLA?

Please start a new thread for this after completing the hard task Steve.

Default Are you getting my emails??

I know this is kind of weird question, but are you getting email that doesnt belong to you ? Maybe they are spam , but I am not sure. Bcos I am having 20 times more emails than my daily routine. I normally get emails and spam , comes to around 100 emails. But I am getting like 7622 emails now... which tells me there is something wrong with the server still ?

Anyway, I havent been able to update my Nameserver IP, can this be the cause of it?

I am having difficulty going to the domain registration site.

Can I also ask , what is the name of the new server we are relocating to? Mercury still ? Thanks

Joshua

All accounts have now been transferred to a new server and existing IP's nat forwarded onto the new server from mercury. Please update your personal name server ip's as soon as you are able, in order to complete the move.

If you have any problems or queries regarding this, please drop a ticket into the helpdesk with details and we will be able to further assist you.
