[Completed] Mars being moved to main Dotable cabinet - Dotable

Just a heads up that Mars server will be relocated to the main Dotable cabinet in the 530W datacenter as part of our colocation consolidation and improvement of services.

This move will take place on the 7th of June, 2008.

The server will be powered down, removed from the cabinet, added to the new Dotable cabinet and powered back up.

For those clients with custom nameservers, this will mean new IPs for your nameservers. There's no way around this unfortunately, and we will email you with your new nameserver IPs as the server is moved to the new Dotable cabinet. You will then need to change your nameserver IPs at your domain register for your main WHM domain. Shortly after that, your domains will then resolve from the new location. Downtime will be minimal but there will be some downtime. This cannot be avoided.

For those clients that do not use custom nameservers, you don't need to do anything, as we will update the server's default nameserver IPs.

For those of you that use 3rd party DNS services, you will need to update the A records accordingly with your newly assigned IP addresses. If you can, you would be advised to lower your TTL (Time To Live) times on your dns zones, as low as possible, as soon as you are able, in preparation for an IP address change next week.

Any estimate of what time this will be done on the 7th?

The exact time/date can't be confirmed just yet - there has been a delay with getting a new switch on site prior to the move.

As soon as we have a definite date, we'll update again. It's looking like the server move will be carried out early next week, (Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday between 9.00-5.00 PDT) but again we'll confirm when we get confirmation.

Switch is on-site and being installed. Testing for the new network and swipping the IP blocks is being completed at present.

Aiming for Tuesday (PDT between 9-5) at this stage for the migration to take place. Confirmation will be posted as soon as everything is in place.

I've not received any details relating to new IPs so obviously sites are down with no option to revise custom nameserver details - should I drop in a ticket?

Yes. Emails are being sent out, but drop in a ticket too if you want.

Server is in transit from the previous colo to the new cabinet . . .

They are inspecting mars server now. They have it open on the bench area and are checking the fans, heatsinks etc . . .
