• Setting up domains in your WHM -

This is a walk through of setting up new domains in your Dotable.com WHM.

IMPORTANT - Your main domain that you opened your Dotable.com account with, is already setup. Those details are in your welcome email. You do not need to create that domain. You just create your other domains with the information below.

(1). Access your WHM via the IP address in your welcome email - http://IPADDRESS/whm

If you're having issues accessing your WHM, please read here.

(2). You'll then need to first Create a Package, for your domain that you want to setup in your WHM.

(3). Now once you have created that Package, click on the "Create a New Account" -

(4). Then complete the following form, setting up the new domain. Live demo here.

Setup the domain in your WHM!

Important notes -

  • Make sure that there are NO spaces before or after your domain name.

  • Never use hyphens in your username field. This will cause problems!

  • Also always enter your domain name as yourdomain.com and NEVER like www.yourdomain.com or http://www.yourdomain.com

  • Never tick the IP box or choose an IP from the IP drop down menu. If you need a dedicated IP for a domain, read this first.

  • Choose the Cpanel Theme drop down menu.

  • Make sure you fill out all the fields and don't leave a field as "unlimited".

  • When you have all the fields completed, click the "Create" button and your account will be created.

Very important -

When you create domains in your WHM account, be sure to setup that domain with a STRONG password. NEVER and I repeat NEVER use the password that is the same as the username. HUGE mistake there that leaves the server vulnerable to spammer and the likes thereof. A password should be a minimum of 8 characters and contain a combination of lower and upper case letters, numbers and symbols. So a strong password looks something like this - Hk6G^tg*Fgf5 and not like this - mary

Here's a great Password generator - http://www.winguides.com/security/password.php

The following information will appear if all was done correctly -

Results of the setup domain request

The following is a brief rundown of your new account -

+===================================+
| New Account Info |
+===================================+
| Domain: yourdomain.com
| Ip: SERVER-IP
| HasCgi: y
| UserName: yourusername
| PassWord: password-here
| CpanelMod: x2
| Quota: 100 Meg
| Data Transfer: 500Mb/mth
| Nameserver1: ns3.dotable.com
| Nameserver2: ns4.dotable.com
+===================================+

Your Control Panel -

Access your Control Panel for yourdomain.com at
http://SERVER-IP/cpanel with the above Username and Password. Usernames and Passwords *are* case sensitive.

Email setup -

Incoming Mail Server [POP3] - mail.yourdomain.com
Outgoing Mail Server [SMTP] - mail.yourdomain.com

Please note that certain aspects of setting up your email will be dependant upon your domain name being fully propagated over to our Name Servers. The process of propagation can take up to 3 days for your domain to be pointed to the Dotable.com servers.

Upload your site details -

Upload to the IP address of SERVER-IP using your above Username and Password to the public_html area. If you are using any FTP programs to upload your site, just make sure to upload to the IP address *only* and not with the http:// in front of the IP address. This applies to Dreamweaver too.

Dotable.com SERVER-IP as follows -

Mercury server - 72.34.35.3
Venus server - 72.34.35.4

Your server that your account is placed on is in your Dotable.com welcome email.

Nameservers for your domains -

Mercury server clients - ns3.dotable.com & ns4.dotable.com
Venus server clients - ns5.dotable.com & ns6.dotable.com

You can access your site while your domain name resolves over to our Dotable.com servers by accessing http://SERVER-IP/~yourusername. After your domain name has resolved [this can take up to 48hrs], your site will be accessible at http://www.yourdomain.com.

• I cannot access my WHM -

(1). Make sure that you're using the right path to your WHM. The path should be http://IPaddress/whm. That information was given to you in your Dotable.com welcome email.

(2). Also make sure that you're using the correct username and password. Usernames and passwords are case sensitive, when accessing your WHM.

You can access the secure WHM by using https://IPaddress:2087, or you can access the non-secure WHM by using http://IPaddress/whm. The IP address is given to you in the Dotable.com welcome email.

If you still can't access your WHM, then you might be behind a firewall that is not allowing you access to the WHM port on our server. You'll need to contact your network admin, if this is the case. If you're still having problems after that, send in a ticket to the Dotable.com Helpdesk, and we'll look into it.

• How can I delete domains in my WHM?

You can delete domains from your Dotable WHM account, using the "Terminate an Account" function. Be sure that the deletion process has fully completed, before moving onto something else in your WHM.

• Setup a domain with a dedicated IP -

Your main WHM domain comes already setup with a dedicated IP address. You have a total of 5 dedicated IP address at your disposal. If you would like a dedicated IP assigned to an existing domain in your WHM, send in a ticket to the Dotable.com Helpdesk, and let us know which domain it is that you'd like be assigned with a dedicated IP address, and we'll take care of that for you. If you require additional IP addresses, beyond your 5 free IPs, they cost $1/IP/mth.

Please note that dedicated IPs need to be justified, and cannot be given to a domain without a valid reason. Valid reasons include SSL certificates.

• Editing features of your domains -

If you want to edit the features of domains, you can edit the disk space for each domain with the following link in your WHM - "Quota Modification". You can then edit the data transfer for each domain in your WHM at the link - "Limit Bandwidth Usage".

You can edit the cpanel theme for your domains from the "Modify an Account" feature in your WHM.

VERY VERY IMPORTANT - Do not edit your username or the domain name, of your actual domain name on the "Modify an Account" page. Doing so will cause your domain to become unusable and it will need to be created again. This can also cause severe issues with the apache config, thus leading to downtime etc.

To edit the number of POP email accounts, MySQL database, FTP accounts, subdomains for your domain names, you will need to open a ticket on the Dotable.com Helpdesk and request that these edits be made. We will then make the requested changes for you.

• If a domain exceeds its bandwidth limit -

When one of your domains exceeds (goes over) the bandwidth (transfer) limit:

The site and all files on it will become inaccessible through a browser.
New mail sent to the account will still get through provided the account has enough space for it.
FTP will still be accessible.

To get the site working again:

(1). Log into WHM. Click the "Limit Bandwidth Usage" link. Select the domain or account username for the account that is over its bandwidth limit. Click the "Limit" button. Raise their bandwidth limit and click "Change".

(2). Then click the "Suspend or Unsuspend An Account"  in your WHM, and if the domain is suspended, unsuspend it. There could be a 10 to 20 minute delay, from when you increase the bandwidth and to when it becomes active again. Be sure to check your domains daily, to make sure they don't go over their limits and you end up having to wait like this.

If you're still having issues with this, send in a Support ticket to the Dotable.com Helpdesk.

• If a domain exceeds its space quota -

When one of your accounts exceeds (goes over) the amount of space you gave it the following happens:

All pages and files will still be accessible via the web/ftp/email.
Any new mail sent to the account will be bounced due to the user being over their set quota.
New files will not be able to be uploaded to the space.

To allow e-mail and uploading again:

(1). Delete some of the files in that account.
(2). Log into WHM. Click the "Quota Modification" link. Raise the quota for the account experiencing the problem.

If you're still having issues with this, send in a Support ticket to the Dotable.com Helpdesk.

• SSL Certificate Installation - Required Details -

All of the following information is required for setting up an SSL certificate -

The following information is required in order for us to create a CSR (Certificate Signing Request) for all SSL certificate installs - The CSR and "key" file (Key=Password file) for your SSL cert will then be emailed to you, in order for you to complete the purchase of your SSL certificate.

Be sure to select "Apache + MOD SSL" when ordering your certificate.

You will need to have a Unique IP address assigned to the particular domain name, in order to install an SSL certificate. You have been assigned an IP for your main WHM domain, you do not need another IP, we can install the cert onto your existing IP for you main WHM domain name account. If the domain that you want to install an SSL cert on, does not have a dedicated IP, then we can assign one during the installation process of your SSL. Dedicated IP info here.

You need to purchase an SSL certificate. We sell GeoTrust SSL certs here for AUS$125/yr.

The following information is required in order for us to create your CSR

(Please submit all of this information to our HelpDesk.)

(1). Email address to send the cert to.

Should be your email address. (Not Displayed in cert information)

(2). Host to make certificate for.

This should be in the format as follows:-

secure.domain.com
www.domain.com
anything.domain.com

Notes

The subdomain that you use for your cert does not have to be created by you prior to the installation of the SSL cert, you should use a sub domain that does not currently exist - The Document root for your cert will then be the same as your existing website :-

ie: /home/user/public_html

This enables your existing pages to be viewed via SSL as :-

Examples
https://secure.domain.com or
https://www.domain.com or
https://anything.domain.com

(Note: You need to choose one of the above, each separate subdomain will need a different IP and SSL cert, it's best to choose one subdomain for all secure transactions)

(3). Company Name. (As per installed domain)

(4). City. (As per installed domain)

(5). State. (As per installed domain)

(6). Country. (As per installed domain, 2 letter abbreviation)

(7). Company Division. (eg. Sales division, security division)

(8). Company Email address. (As per installed domain)

(9). Password. (Choose an alphanumeric challenge password for the cert. This password can contain no special characters like $ %^&. It must be alphanumeric.)

(10). Do you need an IP address assigned to this domain? (See above.)

What Happens Now?

(11). When we have created the CSR for you, you will receive the "Key" file for your cert via the email address included within step 1.

(12). You can then order your certificate from your provider.

(13). When you have been issued with your certificate, simply submit that cert and the key file to us via our HelpDesk.

(14). We will then install the cert for you and advise when completed.
