Question is did the upgrade work or should we expect more reboots?

The kernel version now is: 2.6.19.2-grsec (SMP) according to the server status page. Do you know if that's the new version? ( Steve should know for sure..)

I can appreciate this from both sides; although it would be ideal to have an announcement whenever there is any planned downtime, to say that dotable maintenence must be scheduled at a time best suited to the US is a little unfair for those who live and work in other timezones. Whatever time of day downtime occurs it is likely to affect somebody.

It's not our fault that the US is so far behind the rest of us!! ;-p

Also, isn't it about time that we forgave jupiter for the turmoil during its creation? Let's be positive! There is no need to keep harping on about the past, surely?

Seem to have hit a bump in the road causing a crash after a few minutes of being up on some boxes. Going to have to apply a new patch a bit later..

Hal,

My main complaint is that we had no notice on what I am pretty sure was a planned upgrade.

I understand the US is not the center of the world -- that would be Greenwich, England of course How about scheduling planned upgrades based on the location of the majority of accounts on a server? If the majority is in Oceania then they should have upgrades during their downtime This way the server downtime affects the fewest people during their critical periods.

It has been some time since the major Jupiter problems. However, it does seem Jupiter is the only server that continues to have "issues" like today's fsck. Check out the server announcements and you'll see that Jupiter has more replies to posts than the others (not necessarily more threads) -- are we Jupiter customers just a noisier lot?

Howdy.

Don't have an account on Jupiter. But, Saturn and Neptune are seeing issues too. I agree with you, Dave, the timing and lack of notice are disconcerting. The sad thing is that this is morning for the US and afternoon for the UK! Both countries are affected. Not to mention all the ones in between. Best time for the other side of the world.

I just hope that it settles out soon. Sat and Nept are down approx. every 15 mins or so.

Paul

I guess if it a choice of being down for an hour once versus going down every 15-20 minutes I should be happy I am on Jupiter today
