Server information thread - Dotable

Jupiter is a QUAD Opteron 844, 8GB ECC RAM, 4x73GB SCSI drives + hardware RAID, 2x550w hot swap redundant PSU. This is a very powerful server, and a great platform for reselling from.

Jupiter is to be housed in our cabinet in our 2nd colo facility - Carrier Center, Los Angeles.

Curious Bob

`This is a great platform for reselling from`. Is this a more powerful server than your current offerings? What tells it apart from your current servers, as I assumed you current servers were optimized for reselling?

Will you charging more to be hosted on this new server?

Jupiter is a one off purchase, as it was going for a good price, so I bought it and am adding it to the Dotable cabinet in '600w 7th' facility. It's a 4U server, so takes up too much rack space to have multiple 4U servers per rack, as compared to the 2U Dual XEONs.

The new Earth and Mars servers is where new accounts will go, but Jupiter was a special server where I could have the option to move some heavy resellers to, if needed. So Jupiter just increases Dotable's inventory and options a tad, but it's just a one off purchase.

Not yet. I'll update when it's ready. All new accounts are going on Earth now, and then Mars, so it's not like we're needing this server for a little while yet. There's no rush.
