Talking with the colo boss. All servers in this Dotable cabinet are supposed to be clearly labelled, so something like this does not happen. It's embarrassing and this is no place for sugar coating, but the truth is always the best policy and just want you folks to know exactly what's happening and what's being done to rectify the situation.

Ok, we've found Jupiter server. It was labelled as Pluto, but that's in another cabinet in the facility next door. So they're hard rebooting Jupiter now with the console hooked up . . .

Update -

We're making another reboot attempt. The last reboot hung at "uncompressing", so we'll try again. If this second attempt won't work, they'll have their head linux tech jump in . . .

Update -

The Linux tech there has confirmed that the server is fscking /home, so this will take 30 to 45 minutes at least.
Quote:
Bob, there was no output on the screen because it was being redirected to a serial console. We rebooted it again and turned off the serial console, so now we saw all the kernel booting output, init.d, etc. It's doing an fsck of /home right now, and if that's a big disk it might take a while. it's definitely working--disk light is flashing, etc.
Getting there folks. Apologies for the delay.

Hmm....
I guess for better luck, I'd have to advice renaming "Jupiter"

LOL, I'm joking. I completely dismiss numerology but for 'some' reason this name Jupiter gives me 'unstable' kind of feelings.

She's been humming along for the last 140 odd days without incident, and now an issue with BIND, then coming back from a reboot. Sorry folks, but we're nearly out of the woods. Just get through this fsck and she'll be humming again.
