Default Zip-ing the files on my server, is it possible?

Hi all,

It is my first post here for the problem I found quite intriguing. I hope there is anybody here who may help me:

The un-zipping feature on cpanel is totally kick-ass since I often got problems with uploading through ftp transfer alone.

Now the problem I have is I need to download a huge number of files from the server, and with ftp transfer, the data corruption problem persists. Is there a way to zip the files on the hosting server then download it to my local server?

Thanks in advance, looking forward for any enlightenment.

You could try using CPanel backup feature, which produces
tar.gz file to download.

Steve's talked to me about it, as being a possibility for Dotable shared servers. No promises, but there has been some talk about it.

Is it possible to set that up myself?

Was thinking of reading the subversion installation manual but might be better to ensure the possibility beforehand.

Thanks

No this is something that we'd have to setup, server wide. Steve's discussed this, but no promises or anything. If this is installed across the Dotable fleet, you'll hear about it from an announcement.
