Yeah I've noticed that too. I've been meaning to check into this, but it kind of suited me. I'm thinking that the replies posted are getting emails sent out, as well as the main post, to a forum you're subscribed to. Maybe it's kind of supposed to work like this?

I don't know whether it is supposed to work like that or not. However, IMHO, I think instant notifications of each reply post in a thread could become quite annoying.

For example, in the Server forum, if you start a new thread at 2AM saying that the server will be rebooted at 8AM, I want to know about it. But then if many of us start replying to the thread throughout the night asking this or that, I don't necessarily want to be notified about the new replies... especially if we reply with "Ok" or "Thanks for telling us" etc etc.

I think we should be able to make the choice to subscribe to the thread. I guess we could just unsubscribe to the thread after it has been automatically subscribed to as well. Only problem with this is that if you happen to be away and don't catch the new thread, you will have many emails about the thread when you finally get to it. Also if you have such a setup, your PC or mobile will be beeping all night long.

I didn't receive any email notification in the announcement forum with the network outage the other day and I've got a subscription to it

You might have to resubscribe to the forum, since we added the fix.

OK, forum subscription is working again. I'm also getting notification of replies (which I don't really want). Only some though, not all.

There's definately something up with that.

I think Josh is the trouble-maker here... I was not getting reply notifications for the Sumith thread until Josh posted his reply. Then I was automatically subscribed to it.

I'm getting the first email with the opened thread, and then emails for subsequent replies.

Ok, then let's blameBob then....

Maybe its something to do with whether you are still logged in to the forum or not at the time of the new reply.
