Default Single Domain account

It would be great if Dotables single domain account could be located at a completely different data center in a completely different geographical location with a completely different upstream provider. And then to have that account provisioned with ClientExec.

I moved my domains over to Dotable partly because of the free ClientExec. After the troubles with Jupiter a couple weeks ago, I decided I needed to move my support system to another server away from my clients so that, when their websites go down, they still have a way to reach me that they can remember. I have an emergency comm domain hosted at another location and I have even provided my customers with an emergency email address where they can reach me if the primary server goes down. But they never remember those communications mechanisms!! So I want a single domain account with the above requirements as my solution to this problem. What about it AB -- any thoughts?

Until Dotable provides a solution to this problem does anyone have a recommendation for a inexpensive yet reliable host for a single account preferably with custom DNS, at least two MySQL databases, and about 200MB of webspace? It would be even better if it also came with a free ClientExec but I am not holding out much hope for that PM me if you don't want to publicize a competitor to Dotable.

Dave, why not get a single account on a server in the other data center Dotable has a cabinette in? If Dotable aren't offering them on those servers, perhaps a swap could be made with another reseller for a small account.

I thought about that but it is still located in LA (relatively closeby I think) and I believe it still uses the same upstream providers? I am thinking a different geographical location in case of earthquakes, power disruption, etc. Different upstream providers is nice in case one of them has a severe DDOS they can't handle. If I have a separate account for this need, I might as well maximize the probability it will be working when the others are not.

PowerVPS would be a good backup. They are on the east coast (VA/DC area) too. Their focus is the VPS, but they also have reseller for Plesk and Cpanel, and free clientexec.

They don't beat HTTPme, and I wouldn't expect them to beat Dotable either.

But if you are talking for backup, they are reliable for support, and fairly stable. I used them for a few years.

Well, their shared hosting accounts don't come with ClientExec and I am not looking for anything more than a one-domain account. $7.99/mo is high compared to what Aussie Bob and others are charging for a one-domain account.

True. I was thinking ClientExec and Geographic Location when they came to mind.

Inexpensive is a relative word, I guess -- I thought $20.00/mo was cheap for a reliable host!
