Default WHM accounts

Aside from the number of IP addresses provided, the disk space, and the bandwidth, what are the differences between DR-1 and MD-1? There is an enormous difference in price.

If we operate a hosting business elsewhere, would it be prohibited to run our main hosting sales site on MD-1?

MD-1 : Host 10 domains, Dotable Nameserver(I believe)..
DR-1 : Host Unlimited Domains, Your own Custom Nameservers,FREE ClientExec..

Hi Tom

As Ric has said, there's numerous differences between the Multiple domain accounts and the Reseller accounts. There's two markets there, so the MD and DR accounts target each market.

MD accounts don't come with personalised nameservers, as do the DR accounts. The MD accounts are also domain number limited, whereas the Reseller accounts are not. The reseller accounts also come with ClientExec, whereas the MD accounts do not.

Hope that clears things up.

If you wanted to host your main WHM domain on an MD-1, and your client's sites elsewhere, we could setup a MD-1 with custom nameservers, but that account would have the standard 10 domain limit. So yes, you can host your main site on an MD-1.

Thanks for the quick answers!

Right now my main hosting site is on a VPS. It's my VPS, but the hosting is just part of my overall business activities, and my "private" nameservers actually belong to another part of my business In fact, my hosting business doesn't even have its own WHM!

I'm thinking about an MD-1 just as a testbed, a place to hold one of my sites (dotable nameservers are fine), and a place to provide support if the VPS is down. Does the MD-1 provide a jailed SSH?

Yes indeed. Just request SSH be enabled from the Dotable helpdesk, and we'll enable that for you. SSH is not enabled by default.
