Default Hosting

I'm looking for a host to host a new multiforum site I'd like to start, I've heard that this company is good for them, is it true?

Requirements:

phpBB Multi Forums Requirements

Apache 1
Linux O/S (not tested on Windows servers)
php 4.4.x; phpBB MF does work on php 5 but has not been extensively tested
GD Library 2.x+
mySQL 4.x; phpBB MF does work on mySQL 5 but has not been extensively tested
cURL compiled into PHP
mod_rewrite (to create "nice" pages for Directory listings)
Minimum 1 database, 2 recommended
Ability to create (or have created for you) a top level domain (ie domain.com) or subdomain (ie sub.domain.com) - phpBB MF is not currently designed to run in a subfolder.
Ability to create (or have created for you) wildcard subdomains (ie *.yourdomain.com or *.sub.domain.com)
open_basedir off (only if using the multiple domain feature)
ionCube support (either using included runtime files or via php.ini)

What's the best starter package? Least amount of money to start with? I would need time to build a member base, so I only need the minimum package at this time.

Thanks

You've heard correct.

Yeah, no worries there. Pretty standard requirements.

Start with the MD-1 plan. That should keep you in good stead for a fair while. Then upgrade down the track, if you need to.

Sing out if you need anything else.

Nice. That's way cheaper than I thought. How many boards should MD-1 support?

You can host 10 full domains on MD-1, but you could setup as many forums as you needed, if they were using subdomains etc. Your limits there is your 1,000MB disk space and 10,000MB data transfer/mth.

FYI, PphpBB runs just fine in a subfolder.
I've setup many phpBB's in subfolders.. You can also run more than one installation of phpBB on the same domain. You just have to either create a new database for every installation or use different table prefixes for every installation.

About Dotable, it's one of the best web hosting companies I know. Great service!
