Default Questions on VPS plans

Hi Bob & Steven,

I'm looking for a VPS plan to transfer all my CPanel a/cs from my current shared server from a different host. Below are some quick questions I have:

1. Does your CPanel/Fantastico/RVSkins mthly fee include WHM?

2. Can I create multiple WHM a/cs, e.g so that I can partition the VPS plan say into 2 WHM a/cs with different quotas?

3. How frequent are the backups done?

4. Do you have discount pricing for 3mths, 6mths and 12mths payment like your other reseller packages?

5. Can you customise a VPS plan with 10GB storage?

6. If I need to consolidate a/cs from 2 shared servers into 1 VPS, are you able to assist?

Hope to hear your replies soon. Thanks in advance!

Bob, great to see Dotable doing well.

im not sure about it, but i think you are only limited to what cpanel can do , so if it aloows that you can do it, after all its you vps , but im not sure if its allowed since its managed solution

it was stated somewhere that these plans are month/to month only ...

Yes.

Yes, you can do pretty much whatever you want. It's your VPS.

You'll need to organise your own backups for now, for your VPS. We're working on an off-server backup system, but that won't be inplace for a little while.

We could work something out. 10% discount for 3mth payment. 15% for 6mths and 20% for 12mth payment.

The pricing starts at the 15GB VPS. We're not selling anything less than that. Remember that Cpanel takes about 2GB, so that has to be taken into consideration.

Sure, we can migrate those accounts over to your Dotable VPS, providing they're currently hosted on a cpanel server.

Oh, yes its Steve

Bob, thanks for the clarifications. This will be my first VPS plan. I've a couple more questions, so please bear with me.

1. Any target dates for the off server backups to be implemented? It's kinda not practical to download all my sites from VPS for regular backups and use up my bandwidth.

2. Is Ruby on Rails included too?

3. If I want to upgrade to another VPS plan later, will this be done on the same server hardware? Since each server is limited to max 10 VPS, if the server my account is on reached 10 VPS, how do you cater for more diskspace & guaranteed RAM of an upgrade plan?

We'll give you some other space on another server in that same cabinet, at no charge. We'd rather you moved data there and not over our switch. That way we don't pay for the data moved.

Yes sir, if you want RoR, you've got it!

Yes, you can upgrade to the same server hardware. We have room for upgrades.

Great to know that upgrades are catered for.

I have a few last migration concerns below:

1. Some accounts have installed applications like Shopping carts, Wordpress etc with mysql dbs, will they be migrated seemlessly without database login ids and password changes?

2. All email a/c passwords, mails and web mail settings on server preserved?

3. Can the a/cs within 1 WHM a/c be migrated in 2 batches a wk apart? What is the best recommendation as I do not have the cpanel logins of all my customers and will have to inform customer before resetting their login passwords.

Passwords to wordpress, shopping carts emails etc should remain the same. The only thing that will change is the cpanel password, and will only apply if you do not have access to your client's cpanel password to begin with.

If they are dynamic site, then you could perhaps inform them not to do any update for the next 24 to 48 hours to allow domain propagation.

Good luck with the transfer

Yes, no changes at all, moving from one cpanel server to the next.

You betcha.

That would mean you would need to setup new nameservers for the first batch of domains being setup on your VPS. You can't have 2 WHM accounts on different servers, using the same set of nameservers.

I think we have 1 VPS slot available, so better reserve it if you want it. It'll be a few mths until we setup more hardware for VPS accounts.
