Ah ... We posted at the same time - additional IP's are $1/IP/month - thanks, that's fine, missed that in the FAQs

If you have SSH access on that domain, then yes you can use SFTP.

Yes.

2. And my question about additional IP addresses?
You have 5 IPs assigned to your WHM account. 2 are used for your nameservers, so that leaves 3 that can be used for SSL certs etc. We won't assign dedicated IPs for any other reason than needing an SSL certificate. We have to give justification for our IP usage, and this is why we're strict on additional IP assignments.

Sorry Bob, I'm still confused about your meaning here

You said:
Quote:
No, you can't resell hosting accounts with SSH access.

SSH is only granted on your main WHM domain (by request) and also any other domains that you control.
And I asked:

I'm not quite sure what you mean by:

... and also any other domains that you control.

For example, If I create an account from WHM (eg. www.domain.com) could I use SFTP to access the files on that domain using my SFTP client?
You replied:

I know SSH is necessary before you can use SFTP, but my question was really:

1. If I create an account in WHM, can I have SSH (jailshell) applied to that account and so access that domain using SFTP?

2. Ditto, but I assign that account to a customer ... can I have SSH applied so the customer access their account using SFTP?]

My confusion here is what you mean by '... can't resell hosting accounts with SSH access'.

ie. Do you mean - if I own and control the account (domain) I create in WHM then SSH/SFTP access will be allowed, but if I create an account (domain) for someone else to use then SSH/SFTP access won't be allowed?

Sorry, just confused here ...

... It's now five and a half hours (and it's 5.24am here ...) since my first question in this thread and I've given up waiting for a reply and gone to bed.

G'night!

You got it right here

So if you own and control the account (domain), then just create a support ticket for it, and ssh will be enabled. And if you create account for someone else, you won't have ssh access.

Only if that is your domain, and not a resold domain that your client will use SSH for.

No.

Correct.

No worries.

SSH is only meant to be for your main WHM domain, or for your personal use for your other domains. You can't setup accounts for others to use SSH on.

Ok.

Do you support an alternative secure FTP access such as FTPS SSL/TLS (both data and control channels) that customers can use?

I'm not too keen allowing customers to send their username and password in clear view when they FTP to their account.

Hi Pixx,

Our servers run pure-ftpd with TLS/SSL support as well, so you can use that.

I use a setting on my FileZilla client of TLS (explicit encryption) and it works fine. SSL does not work.

Hey Steve,

It doesn't seem to work with my FileZilla client.
