Default Questions before purchase - version issue

Hello,

I've been reading some of the forum threads, and this seems like a great company. I just have one querstion before I purchase...

I read on one of the main threads that all servers contain php5 and mysql5, but I've also seen a thread from someone claiming that it isnt.

Is this true? Or are there two different kinds (one with mysql4 and one with mysql5) being offered?

I have a website in mind that can only run on mysql5, so I need to be sure that I'll be getting exactly that.

Can someone let me know for sure if there are mysql5 servers available?

Thanks.

Apparently the new servers have php5/mysql5 on them. So, as a new customer, you would be put on a server with the latest. The only question is when us oldtimers will get the latest on the old servers.

That's true, but Steve has to be very careful when to upgrade MySQL4 to MySQL5, and not create carnage for clients on the server. All Dotable servers have PHP4 and PHP5. It's Steve's call when MySQL4 gets upgraded on the servers that run MySQL4.

Saturn is new but it's MySQL4 and we're reluctant to force all clients on Saturn to upgrade to MySQL5. You can imagine the problems this will cause, and we're not keen in making a rod for our own backs. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. If you really need MySQL5 and you're on Saturn, drop a ticket into the helpdesk and we'll move your sites over to a MySQL5 server.

I completely understand Bob. I wasn't pushing for Mysql5 -- in fact, it was more of a question of when it will hit us old timers. So far, I think it best that you treat the needs of the few by moving them to a new server with Mysql5.
