Default Which account is right for me?

Hi there.

I'm looking to make the move to your system. I know Aussie Bob and Steve from way back when (Robert I know you from the days of McHost and Steve, well you used to help me out a lot)

Anyway, I currently have 11 domains that need a new home. Slowly these domain will dwindle down to maybe 6 or 7.

The question is. Which account should I look for?

I'm looking at either MD-1 or SD-4.

Now if I remember correctly the "add-on" domains option on SD-4 will allow me to host the 11 domains. Essentially it will be in the format of primarydomain.com/otherdomain1 -- with otherdomain1.com referencing this directory
primarydomain.com/otherdomain2 -- with otherdomain2.com referencing this directory
primarydomain.com/otherdomain3 -- with otherdomain3.com referencing this directory etc etc. Can you confirm that for me please?

Obviously MD-1 has the option to have dedicated WHM and Cpanel. How is Cpanel controlled with SD-4? Does each add-on domain have it's own cpanel? What about FTP? Does each domain in SD-4 have individual FTP accounts? I ask because one of the domain is owned and managed by someone else, so while I want them to have full access to their domain, I don't want them to have access to mine.

My average monthly bandwidth use across all 11 domains is 5 GB so SD-4 and MD-1 both have more than enough bandwidth. Current storage capacity across all 11 domains is less than 1 GB of space so again SD-4 and MD-1 fit in there too.

I'm going to take out a 12 month option and am leaning towards SD-4 but I'm not sure. What advantage does MD-1 potentially have over SD-4 apart from the ability to have WHM/Cpanel? Especially given MD-1 has substantially less bandwidth available to it than SD-4?

Hi Nathan

Go with an MD account, as each of your domains will have its own control panel. Using addon domains from an SD account, for multiple domains, is inferior when compared with an MD account with all your domains having their own Cpanel etc. The MD accounts are best suited for the hosting of multiple domains, compared to the SD account, which are suited for single domain hosting.

Sing out if you need anything further.

Hi Steve, it has been a very long time. I was working it out the other day, it would be at least 4 years since I gave up the web hosting game, possibly longer. Shows you have been around a while then .....

Things are good, busy as always but good. Do you still have me on MSN? If not send me a message and I'll give you details. I don't have you on there anymore I'm afraid.

How are things with you?
