Or HTTPme.com might cut the price.

I've never increased the price of a client's plan, unless they've upgraded it. The price you buy a plan at, is what is is for good, unless you upgrade or downgrade it.

I believe Dotable's pricing accurately reflects the changing landscape of the hosting industry. I set HTTPme's current pricing back in 2002, and a lot has changed in the hosting industry since then. Dotable more reflects that changing landscape, by offerring competitively priced packages with exceptional customer service.

These days the customer is definently getting more bang for their hosting buck, when compared to 5 years back. The market is more and more competitive, and offerring great service will only get you so far. You need to offer the complete package, with competitive pricing, features galore and exceptional service.

No, that will never happen, when you have a large client base that you would have to lower existing pricing by too. I maybe can see them raising the specs provided in their plans though, to keep competitive and up to date. That is doable, and doesn't pose a threat to the existing revenue base, other than folks who have upgraded previously, who will downgrade if new increased resources are given.

Never a dull day in the hosting business.

Hello,

How much more expensive would it be to have Australian servers? A ball park percentage?

Is it possible to have your site mirrored on two servers with site vistiors sent to the closest/fastest? We have both local and international visitors.

Kind regards,
Mame du Bois

In Australia - 1 gig bandwidth is approx $3
Dotable's mini plan @ $7.95 is for 10gig
Big Difference

IP's are Generally $3.5-$4.00 in Australia
50c to $1.00 in US - another big difference.

Things in Australia a very expensive, that's why if you ever look at the offerings of Australian Host. Price to resources are about 10x higher for Australian Servers than US servers.

Not 100% sure about this one but I do believe that the highest ranked nameserver always gets selected/looked at first.
So if that's pointing to Australia for example, thats where all the customers would be looking/going to first.

We haven't calculated the price difference as such, but it would be substantial.

No, that's not feasible.

So do we. That's why Dotable's client's servers are positioned in LA, for great speeds from Aussie, Asia, and of course fast from the USA too. Dotable has an even spread of clients, from the USA, UK and Australia.

Have you tested: how difference between a server in west coast (let's say LA) and a server in east coast (let's say NY)? Can I see the ping time is much different, but it doesnt show the speed, is that correct?

Servers in LA from Aussie are around the sub 200ms pings. Servers in NY would be around the 320ms, so yeah, there is a noticeable difference there, and that's why Dotable servers are located on the west coast.

but the ping result doesnt show the performance, right? what do you think if your servers are located in the east coast? How much slower will customers face? saying 5%, 10% downgrade or more
