Brad,
I hear ya. I'm constantly working.. either its e-mails going to my phone or getting bored while I'm at my computer and logging on the the work VPN and working on random things.. Sadly, I've just finished my last little project, so now I need to find some other reason to keep me staring at this screen all day and night. :-P |

Hey Brien,
after almost an eternity you seem to have fixed the possibility to register again. For about half a year the captcha thing did not work, so I could not register and post in the forum. There is still old and outdated information on the site. I quit my contract with dotable, because I wrote an email about those issues (especially the forum registration not working) and this was not fixed for ages. No wonder there was no people posting on the forum, because you simply could not sign up to it in the first place. Another thing was the server downtime, where I did not get any email notification. You should focus on the following: make the site up to date in respect of the content: Aussie Bob is no longer in the team so replace him with the current manager. Remove outdated info, like Live chat from contact. In the case of server outages send out notification emails. Other than that I have been quite happy with dotable, but since there were these issues and I was not sure if those would be resolved, plus a lot of people kept complaining I decided to leave. I hope you work it out to make dotable great again and I think you can do it, when you update stuff and keep your customers happy. Good luck! |

Hm, thanks for the feedback, I'll definitely let the right people know, but lets see if I can answer some of these issues here.
You should focus on the following: make the site up to date in respect of the content: Aussie Bob is no longer in the team so replace him with the current manager. With this, If we remove all of AussieBob's posts and such, almost everything would be gone from the forum. It shows his status under his names in the posts as "Retired Dotable Founder". If you're talking about another place, please let me know so that I can take a look into it. Remove outdated info, like Live chat from contact. I've removed the section on live chat from the contact section. Thanks for pointing that out. In the case of server outages send out notification emails. I don't know if we have an e-mail notification about servers going down, but I will check with Jaku about that. We currently have notices from Panopta when services go down on servers, and we have our own monitoring software running as well. We do make a post on the forum in the announcement section of the forum as soon as we see a server go down. A new feature that Billy just added to that section is that it will automatically post to a twitter that Billy set up. http://twitter.com/dotablestatus will update automatically whenever a post is made in announcements. |

I do not mean you should delete all the posts from Aussie Bob, just update those with essential info to someone from the current staff: http://dotable.com/dotable-sales-for...t-dotable.html for example.
with server down notfications, i am sure there must be a newsletter feature that you can use. if some server goes down, just send a sort note: "server is down, we are working on it - estimated to be down for xxx" to all the people who are on it and after resolving it, post another short info. here is some more info that is outdated: http://dotable.com/dotable-informati...formation.html the dataserver for at least some of the servers has been moved. also the speedtest link on this page does not work: http://speedtest.dotcolo.com/ I would recommend you guys check the entire static content pages on the top menu for outdated content. |
