Default Great news...

I applied for British Citizenship 9 weeks ago and just received the approval letter!!

What a great Christmas present!

It was *really* quick too as they say it normally takes 7-9 months. I guess my application was pretty straight-forward!

Congratulations!

Now, when will you become a knight? and/or get a Holiday in your name?

Sir JOSH!

Thanks Dave

I can't believe I've been here just over 3 years (not counting the 3 months when I had the hissy-fit and went back to Brisbane that first year). It has really flown by!

Congrats Josh!

Are you still an Australian citizen? Is this what they call dual citizenship?

Thanks Rob. Yeah I'm keeping my Australian citizenship (dual citizenship). I can't see the point in giving it up and keeping all options open seems like the sensible option

haha

I was in the post office sending a packaging overseas and I figured I might as well ask for a passport application. The guy behind the counter said "so you've finally got your citizenship, congratulations". He then went on to explain how to go about filling out the application and that they have a checking services (which verify the application is filled out correctly and copies all your documents so you don't have to send the originals). He went on to say how this service costs ?6... to which I replied "oh that's cheap - it cost over ?700 for the citizenship.

He then said "Now look, if you're going to be British you have to learn to act like a whinging Pom"
