Default What is the easiest 'novice' CMS?

I'm looking for your opinions on a very easy to setup, install and skin CMS tool.

But mainly it has to be very easy to use (for a novice).

Lots of addon's would be a plus.

It must be well supported and (if possible) free.

I have plan to use templates with a simple CMS for small business.

Thanks in advance

Tye

Wordpress. It doesn't have to be used like a blog I believe.

Thanks Josh - I agree that word press is simple... but then again we are seasoned interneter's (did I just make up a word?).

Imagine logging in to Wordpress if the most advanced thing you had ever done on a computer was to look up a webpage or send an email..

There are a lot of businesses in my area who just aren't computer savvy - but who realise the benefits of a website.

I'm looking for something where they can login - there is a list of pages like Home, About, Services etc and when they click they are taken to an editable version of that page.

nm... maybe I should code my own... this may be better - although I really wanted addons - which may be beyond my coding abilities... we'll see

As soon as you start factoring addons and configuration options into the equation you unfortunately start to make the application more complicated.

There is an opportunity you could be taking advantage of, to train these businesses in how to use something like Wordpress to their advantage.

Default MicroCyte is a good novice CMS

Hi Agua,

My team has just released a CMS which sounds exactly like what you are looking for, it is a lightweight CMS called MicroCyte which 'layers' in over the top of a webpage and allows you to edit it like you would a word document. The developer designs and builds the page like they would normally and then just defines which areas and images they want to be editable.

There are also site management features which allow the user to create new pages using a predefined templates created by the developer. Visit the our site at Microcyte - Cheap cost effective content management systems and check out the demo at http://demo.microcyte.co.uk/login.php.

Looks good, pity about the lack of Firefox support though

My Drupal adventure has been fun, with no bumps so far.

If you are looking for a full-pledge cms, then try e107. Pretty to use and configure, not to mention install.

Anyways, try Home - OpenSourceCMS and have a test drive.
