Hey there,
As title suggests, I'm not a big blog expert (other than setting up a couple of hosted ones and integrating very simple feeds, etc.) I'm working with a community church who are putting together a specific subject site with emphasis on video and articles (blog posts if you will). Normally I wouldn't even consider installing blog software, except they want to take user comments on the articles (and maybe videos too). Everything is nicely categorised, but it appears set-ups like Wordpress are a bit of a pain to integrate into an existing site? Certainly things like having a graphical menu to represent blog categories is too difficult to make it worthwhile. Anyone have other suggestions? Maybe a very basic blog system that can be integrated per page rather than a full set-up would be better, but not sure what's available? May end up just custom coding something but would rather look for an easy solution if possible! Cheers, andy |

well to build a simple blog solution and to integrate it to a well written app - its not a biggie, i would rather want to write something simpe yet effective , that would use existing sites libraries, templating engine etc. than rather try to couple it with wordpress instances or something like that.

Wordpress makes it really easy to set up a site full of static pages with a blog / news page as one section. Given an existing site which is just a collection of static pages I'd look at transferring the content into WP for a nice tightly-integrated minimal CMS where trusted users can be given the rights to edit pages as well as blog posts.
And provided your graphical menu is static then it's trivial to implement in a WP theme - it only gets tricky if you want it to follow a changeable page structure. But obviously there are many other ways to achieve the same thing - it's down to personal choice and experience.
