Default Guess who just climbed the Sydney Harbor Bridge?

ME!!

There's a company called BridgeClimb, and I just got back from a climb of the bridge. It was great. the views from the top were spectacular. I'm sitting in a nice cafe at Circular Quay, enjoying a nice iced coffee, with the Harbor Bridge in the background. It's a hard life I know.

The bridge climb is awesome! I did it several years back. Did you get a pic of yourself/your group?

I love Circular Quay and The Rocks area. It's one of the prettiest and most vibrant parts of Sydney. I lived down at The Rocks many moons ago in a great little conversion almost under The Harbour Brige. Had a great view out west over the harbour.

Yep, got a few pics of the group and me. I'm knackered. It took more out of me than I thought it would, but to stand at the top of the bridge, and look out over all of Australia's first British settlement history, was awesome.

Not sure if I'd live here though. Good place for me to visit, but it's too hectic here for a simple medium sized country town boy.

I agree! I couldn't live there again either. A place in a largish town which is well connected and about an hour away from the big smoke suits me just fine.

That business wasn't there when we we visiting 10 years ago. That sounds like a lot of fun... and work. I don't think I would be able to get my wife to go but next time we visit Oz, I plan to put this on my to-do list.

I think they've been running for around 5 years. They pay the NSW government AUS$120,000,000.00 for a 20 yr lease, to use the bridge for their climb. They're a very well setup business. I was very impressed at their staff and their business setup.

$120 million is a serious investment to make. I wonder if they paid that upfront or if it's paid by installments? If you take an average price of $200 per climber, that's 30,000 climbers a year just to pay the license fee!

Our guide said they pay that over a 20 yr period, so it's not all at once. The bridge collects around AUS$450k per day in toll fees, and they have 80 fulltime staff, with most of them doing maintenance.

I paid AUS$179.00 for my climb. Our guide, Nick, said they take around 500 people on average per day up the bridge. Pretty much every celebrity that comes to Sydney, does the bridge climb. They have a wall of their photos.

That would have been in the same area as the first white settlement from the first fleet?

There's soooo much history in Sydney. It's amazing.
