This is something that we have talked about for months now, I do apologize if you feel that it came out of nowhere, however this is something we have mentioned a number of times.
As for the external DNS, this is something that while it may work is unsupported. When you chose to not use our service for everything issues can arise, this is one of them. This is only 1 of the many type of things that can happen when you chose not to use our DNS. |

Hold on - do we get no control over what is spam and what is not?
I too am getting oodles of spam coming through and many non-spam emails are getting logged as spam.... do I have to send the email headers to Dotable every time I want an email un-spammed? |

This is actually not optional. We have offloaded the handling of mail to another server. Right now the server you are on will allow email from an outside server, however in the near future once all the issues are worked out we will only allow mail that is received through the gateway. By offloading email it reduces load on the server and allows us to keep the server more stable. Approx 80% of all load issues are caused by spamming to the server.

Sorry to hear that... however it is how our email system will be working. The only difference that you are noticing now is the rewrite of the [spam] in the header. Other then that the technology we are using now is the same that was on the cPanel servers (just more refined now)

I also want to point out that out of all our clients and the thousands upon thousands of domains we have on here, we only have a handful that are having issues. While we are working on fixing all of the issues that we are having, we cannot change things for everyone because a few that have issues. Changing the security levels of email, ie where they are accepted from, is considering changing it for everyone because we would have to open up the local exim server to accept email for all users which would allow more spam in that would be unfiltered.

What about things like delays in getting email? If the mail from X number of servers is moved to 1 server that is surely going to cause delays in busy times.
I am also assuming that mailfiltering.com (which is owned by UK2) is not JUST going to be filtering our email at Dotable and will be eventually rolled out across all UK2 owned businesses. Again, what effect will this have on delay. I see it as another point where failure can occur.
