In around 12 hours from now, we will be upgrading all of our cPanel installations to the latest available Release version.
New features include the ability to select the stats processing software and turn off ones that you don't require. By default, the stats software selected to process your web log files will be awstats. You will be able to change that from within each accounts cPanel control panel however. We will still have available analog, webalizer and awstats for processing.

Oh please tell me there won't be any major bugs/glitches in the latest version. I've always heard that cPanel is famous for releasing so called "stable" versions that were not that stable.

Several other servers that I work with have an "Update" button within Awstats which updates the statistics on the fly and I had expected this to be introduced with the update over here. Not a big problem, but is there any particular reason why this is not available at Dotable?

I would imagine because it's not really a good idea on a shared server.
Updating the stats takes up resources and if users are doing it whenever they like (and sometimes several times a day) it can really effect the servers performance. It's much better for the server and it's users on the whole if they are updated once a day only.

There have in the past been exploits when that function has been enabled too. Basically, so we don't get the servers being bogged down with stats processing when users update their stats themselves multiple times per day.
