When I asked how it is caused they said no one knows how my specific condition occurs. I then pointed out that if no one knows how it happens, then I guess there is nothing I can do to prevent it from happening to me again. The response was that, statistically, I am no more likely to have it happen to me again than for someone else to have it happen to them. I have no idea what the statistics say about how many people get to experience this or how many people survive it
