Hi there, Bob and Steve
Can I ask whether there is any chance that you would consider upgrading the Jupiter server from PostgreSQL 7.1.9 to 8.1.9. I appreciate that we already discussed this about a year ago but, since then, version 8.1 has become very stable (rock solid, in fact) and is also now available via the centos yum repo.
I hope you can consider this with with fresh eyes, as I would really like to take advantage of the major improvements in performance that have come about with 8.1. Also, the postgre community strongly recommends upgrades to the latest possible versions.
See:

If there are any other jupiter users who would agree or disagree, please let us know in this thread.
If there is anyone else actually using postgre on jupiter, please also give us a shout out, so that we can discuss any difficulties a migration between 7.4 and 8.1 may cause.
Cheers all
Hal
